I'm the shippiest person in the world (see here) but the previous six Star Wars movies have never elicited shippy feelings in me.  I liked the characters but I guess I was more invested in the overall storyline/effects/plot than the development (whether romantic or platonic) of the characters.  I don't think Lucas was terribly strong in that aspect ( Read more... )
